(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - Hamas on Saturday denounced an Israel-backed UN conference to discuss claims that Jews who used to live in Arab countries were forcibly expelled.Hamas spokesman Sami Abu Zuhri said in a written statement that “those Jews were not refugees as they claim. They were actually responsible for the displacement of Palestinians from their land after they secretly migrated from Arab countries to Palestine where they expelled Palestinians from their lands to build a Jewish state at their expense.”He added: “Those Jews are criminals rather than refugees. They are the ones who turned the Palestinian people into refugees, and for that reason, Hamas movement views this conference as a dangerous, unprecedented move which contributes to the falsification of history and reversing of facts.”Abu Zuhri called for halting such conferences and demanded the United Nations to bear its political and material responsibilities towards the displaced Palestinian people.UN held a meeting at its headquarters in New York, on Friday, to discuss the issue of "Jewish immigrants" from Arab countries during the last century, amid denouncements by Arab envoys at the UN who lodged unsuccessful protests to call it off.Among the participants in the conference; the occupation Deputy Foreign Minister, Danny Ayalon, who is leading a campaign launched by the Israeli government to support Jewish migrants and distract attentions from Palestinian refugees file./129
